Good internet marketers earn profits and commissions online with good “Front-End Products”. We call these products “front-end” because it we offer them not only for their own value, but also as a threshold or entrance into a pre-designed Sales Funnel.
Why You Need A Sales Funnel
Here’s how it works.
You might have a service for matching diabetics with holistic and alternative care providers.
Let’s say you offer this service for $1,000.
Unless you’re very well known in the niche, you’d probably have trouble getting a significant number of people to pick up the phone and ask you to consult with them.
To get your target audience to become more familiar with you so that they’ll be comfortable paying for your high-end consulting service, you could develop a sales funnel.
The sales funnel will offer a variety of products and services at different price points. After buying and consuming some of the products you have offered, your customers will be more likely to buy your high-end consulting fee.
Front-End Products
The initial challenge, of course, is to get people into your sales funnel to begin with.
This is where front-end products come into play.
It will be far easier to entice prospects to enter your sales funnel by offering them a fairly cheap product that will help them solve a problem relevant to your niche.
So, for instance, you might offer them an affiliate product designed to help them better manage their diabetes with exercise.
This would be your front-end product because it will move the “prospect” into your sales funnel, because their status is automatically elevated to “buyer” by virtue of their purchase.
Where Do You Get Front-End Products To Promote?
It doesn’t matter.
You can find affiliate products to use from many places… Clickbank, JVZoo and so many other affiliate vending sites.
You can follow product developers in your niche. Develop a rapport with some of the ones you really like and ask them if you can affiliate one of their products for you front-end offer.
You can even create your own front-end product. This is a great way to develop your personal brand in the eyes of your readers and followers. If you can create your own product, then do it.
You’ll rise head and shoulders above others in your niche if you have the knowledge and ability. However, it’s certainly not necessary. Affiliate products will do just fine.
Tips To Make Front-End Products Irresistible
Remember, the supposed “prospect” has never purchased from you before.
So, you need to make your front-end product irresistible to get them to make that huge leap of faith from simply subscribing to your email list, for instance, to clicking a link in one of your emails and actually making a purchase.
Here’s the three most important things you must do to create this “conversion” from prospect to buyer.
1. Build a relationship with your prospects.
This means, once they’ve opted in to your email list or newsletter, you need to immediately let them know you sincerely care about them, and about solving their problem.
Using the example of diabetes, you might send a series of emails about the correlation between diet and diabetes.
But don’t just deliver great information. Make your emails personal and friendly. Let your prospects know and feel your empathy, compassion and leadership.
2. Offer a product that promises to solve one of your prospects’ chief problems.
Your product will be irresistible if you know your readers want and need it in order to solve a problem that you know to be of high priority to them.
Say you know that your readers need to do a better job of managing their diabetes. Then say you know that they want to do it using natural and alternative protocols. You might conclude that they would be truly intersted in a product that promises to show them how to use exercise to better manage their diabetes.
So that would make a great front-end product to offer.
3. Make the price point extremely reasonable.
Remember, the prospect you are trying to get into your sales funnel is one who so far, is only a prospect for that funnel… not a buyer.
So, in order to make your front-end product irresistible to the prospect, make the price irresistible. That will greatly increase the likelihood that the prospect will make the leap of faith, and become your buyer.
The price could be $25, $75 or more. But generally speaking, to convert a prospect into a buyer, it’s best to keep the price under $50.
The cheaper the price, the more irresistible your front-end product will be.
Your Profit Margin
So, how much will you actually profit from your front-end product?
The answer, really is… who cares?
You might make $30 per unit, $5 or even zero.
The purpose of the front-end product is not to make profits directly, but to bring highly targeted, quality leads into your sales funnel. Once they are in the sales funnel, there will be amply opportunity to make them a profitable investment of your time and money.
We will see how the profits develop deeper into the sales funnel. Watch for my upcoming articles in this “sales funnel” series.
