6 Ways To Use Video To Increase Affiliate SalesIn this article, I am going to give you 6 ways to use video to increase affiliate sales in your business.

Many people think that video is window dressing for their online business. It’s far more than that, though.

Video just keeps getting more and more critical to building a successful online business.

I think one of the problems a lot of people have, is thinking that video has to be really polished and professional looking in order to get people’s attention.

They do not.

In fact, people are often more likely to view a video that looks “raw” or “rough” than something that looks like it came from some slick marketing company.

This is especially true if you’ve built a good relationship with your followers. They already trust you, and now they’d just like to hear from you before making a purchase, to confirm their decision to buy.

Here are 6 ways to use video to increase affiliate sales in your business.

Sales Presentation

The most common way to use video is to simply link to a sales page that has a video on it.

When someone clicks the link to the product you are promoting, they get a video that does the selling of the product or service.

It’s not your video, but it’s a video nonetheless, and people love consuming information from videos. They’re far more likely to sit through a 10 minute video than to scroll down some long, never-ending sales page full of text, arrows, images and hyped up messages.

Now, if the product you’re promoting doesn’t have a video, then you can do your own.

Special: Learn To Blog… (Video Inside)

Just embed it directly into your blog post or web page, and direct people to “click the link below” to get all the details.

That way, as they watch your video encouraging them to buy, they can see your link to the sales page whenever they’re ready to learn more, and make their purchase.

First Person Consumer Experience

A great way to increase interest in your affiliate offers is to shoot a video talking about your personal experience with the product.

This is a “face to camera” video, meaning you sit in front of the camera and just talk about the pros and cons of the product, from your “consumer” point of view.

To give this the feel of an authentic consumer point of view, you need to talk about what you didn’t like about the product as well as what you did like. Nobody is totally in love with every feature or aspect of any product.

If you don’t point out the product’s shortcomings or your disappointments, you’ll sound like a cheerleader or salesperson instead of an objective consumer, giving an honest review.

If you do, you’ll give your audience an opportunity to decide for themselves whether or not the product is right for them based on your review. If they decide they want to grab it, your affiliate link will be posted beneath the video so you can earn the commission.

Demo Video (by the Vendor)

Now, here’s an easy video for you to do.

It’s easy because you don’t need to produce the video, you only need to embed it on your site from the vendor’s YouTube channel.

Most vendors put their sales page demo videos on YouTube to give their product public exposure, and to make sure people know how to use it.

Find the video and put it on your own site.

Tell your readers about the product, then say something like this: “The video below will show you exactly how this works.”

Even though you didn’t produce the video, most viewers will be thankful to you for having curated it and put it on their site.

When they see the same video on the sales page, it will only confirm their decision to buy.

Remember, they won’t be clicking the affiliate link to see the sales page, unless they were already impressed with your review and demo video.

One other note, here. Vendors usually have demo videos of their products even if they don’t put them on the sales page. So look around to find one.

Demo Video (by You)

Everything I said about using a vendor’s demo video, also pertains to doing your own demo video.

It’s even better, though, because it builds your brand as the expert, the authority and the person to keep in touch with even after their purchase.

It builds your business as much as it builds the vendor’s.

This is big because one of the things affiliate marketers and bloggers struggle with is overcoming the sense that they’re just a salesperson. Doing your own demo videos helps you leap over that roadblock and begin to develop your own brand, rather than always be promoting other people’s brands.

So just put together a 3 or 4 minute screen capture video of the way the affiliate product you’re selling works.

That’s your own demo video, and it can do wonders for your sales volume and your personal brand at the same time.

Testimonials

Part of your review should tell your audience, “hey, here’s what other people are saying about this product.”

You can get these videos from the vendor’s sales page or from a broader YouTube search.

If you’re really building relationships with your buyers, you can even ask them to supply honest video testimonials to you.

Make sure to tell them the testimonials can be either good, bad or a mixture. This will ensure the video testimonials sound authentic, and will even give you great market insights at the same time that you build engagement with your followers.

Bonus Videos

If you’re offering bonuses to people for buying from your affiliate link, you can highlight those bonuses with videos.

You can use any kind of video to tell people about your bonuses, but most likely, a face to video is best. Again, it not only tells people about your special bonuses, it also showcases your authority and expertise.

If you’re really uncomfortable with face to camera, then do a screen capture with a short demo of your bonus, or a slide presentation.

And hey, here’s one other idea. If you’re on Periscope, you could even throw in a “scope” video about your bonus.
